HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i football team steps back into nonconference play when it takes on New Mexico State, Saturday, Sept. 12 at Clarence T.C. Ching Complex. Kickoff is 6:00 p.m. The Rainbow Warriors (0-2) look to crack into the win column after dropping its first two games of the season on the road at Stanford and its home opener last weekend against Mountain West rival UNLV.

GAME STORYLINES

• Hawai'i and New Mexico State will meet for the 13th time and the eighth time in Honolulu. UH owns an 11-1 advantage in the series, including 7-0 in Honolulu.
• The Warriors have outscored the Aggies by an average of 17 points per game in the seven meetings in Honolulu, averaging 38.7 points per game in those contests.
• The Rainbow Warriors won the last matchup between the two schools, 20-17, in 2023 in Honolulu. UH erased a 14-point second-half deficit to win on a Matthew Shipley game-winning field goal as time expired.
• This will be the fifth meeting between the teams since 2021. The Rainbow Warriors and Aggies will face off again in 2027 in Las Cruces.
• Hawai'i is 8-1 in its last nine nonconference home games dating back to 2023, including a current streak of five consecutive out of conference wins at Ching Complex.
• Hawai'i has won eight of its last 10 games at Ching Complex dating back to 2024, averaging 29.2 points per game during that span, scoring 35-plus points in six of those nine contests.
• A total of 15 Rainbow Warriors prepped at  Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas. NMSU head coach Tony Sanchez was head coach at Bishop Gorman from 2009-14, compiling an 85-5 record.
• NMSU cornerbacks coach Steve Irvin was UH's cornerbacks coach in 2023 during Timmy Chang's second season as head coach.
• The Rainbow Warriors dropped their home opener to UNLV, 21-6, in the Island Showdown. It marked the first time since a 35-0 loss to San Jose State in 2023 that UH did not score a touchdown in a home game.
• Safety Kona Moore leads the team with 24 tackles through two games, recording double-digit stops in each of the first two games. He recorded a career-high 14 tackles in the opener at Stanford before making 10 tackles Saturday against UNLV.
• Running back DeVon Rice has proved to be a threat on the ground and in the passing game, averaging 80.0 yards from scrimmage per game. Rice is averaging 54.0 rushing yards and 26.0 receiving yards per game while also tying for the team lead with eight receptions on the year.
