Rainbow Wahine Duo Takes the Tennis Stage at Asian Games

AICHI-NAGOYA, JAPAN — University of Hawai'i women's tennis players Stefi Aludo and Tennielle Madis will represent the Philippines in the upcoming 20th Annual Asian Games

. The women's tennis competition runs from Sept. 27 to Oct. 3 at the Nagoya City Higashiyama Park Tennis Center in Japan

.

Aludo and Madis, who are both true freshmen at UH this season, will join tennis phenom Alex Eala on Team Philippines

. Madis will compete in singles and will also partner with Aludo in doubles

.

The Asian Games are the largest sports competition in Asia. Held once every four years

, the Asian Games are organized by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA). The Games feature 45 participating countries or regions

. This year, over 11,000 athletes will compete across 77 different sports

. Tennis has been played at every edition of the Games since 1958, with the exception of 1970

. Men's and women's singles, men's and women's doubles, and mixed doubles have been contested in each edition
