HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i men's basketball team has secured the final addition to its 2026-27 roster with the signing of 6-foot-4 combo guard Maidy Douglas. A native of Paris, France, Douglas brings elite scoring, national team pedigree, and experience in the professional ranks to the Rainbow Warriors. He will sit out from competition during the 2026-27 season in order to fulfill eligibility requirements.
"We're thrilled to welcome Maidy to our Rainbow Warrior 'ohana as the final piece to this season's roster," head coach Eran Ganot said. "Maidy is an incredibly dynamic and explosive player who has competed at the highest levels of French youth and professional basketball. Adding a player of Maidy's caliber to our program is huge for our program."
Douglas arrives in Mānoa after a sensational run with Nanterre 92 in the French system. During the 2025-26 season, he led the Espoirs Pro A U21 league in scoring at 24.0 ppg while contributing 5.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 3.0 steals per game. He shot a highly-efficient 50.0% from the field and 82.4% from the free-throw line and by season's end was named the league MVP. He also earned valuable minutes with Nanterre's senior club during the year.
On the international stage, Douglas was a standout performer for the French national team at the 2026 FIBA U20 EuroBasket tournament. He averaged 13.9 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 2.4 assists over seven tournament games, capturing headlines with a dominant 32-point game on 11-of-16 shooting in the semifinals against Slovenia.
Douglas rounds out a cast of 13 newcomers on this year's UH roster. He is the third straight international player to sign with the 'Bows and sixth overall, a group which also includes Lueth Awan (Australia), Houran Dan (China), Bol Dengdit (Australia), Manie Joses (England) and Aloïs Leyrolles (Switzerland).
