SERIES VS. UCLA
UH leads, 31-25
Last Meeting: Apr. 9, 2013 in Los Angeles (UCLA won, 5-1)

DID YOU KNOW?
Hawai'i is one of just four teams currently in the top 20 nationally in ERA to also have finished in the top 20 in both 2025 and 2024, joining a group that includes North Carolina, Oregon State and UC Santa Barbara. UH is currently fourth nationally with a 3.29 ERA.

TROPICAL SWARM
The Rainbow Warrior pitching staff remains among the national leaders in several statistical categories. UH is second in the Big West and ranks fourth nationally with a 3.29 ERA. The 'Bows also rank in the top 15 nationally in WHIP (13th), hits allowed per nine innings (9th) and opponent batting average (9th). Additionally, Hawai'i has held opponents to three or fewer runs in 19 of the 35 games and limited them to six or fewer hits 14 times.

TAKING ON THE TOP DOGS
The matchup against the Bruins will be UH's first against a No. 1 team since 2010 (Arizona State). The Rainbow Warriors have not beaten a No. 1 team since Mar. 25, 1990 when they knocked off Georgia Tech 6-5 in Les Murakami Stadium. UCLA is also the first top-five team that Hawai'i will take on since 2022 (Vanderbilt) while looking for its first top-five win since taking one of three games in a series against the Commodores in Nashville in 2020.

STACKING SERIES WINS
Hawai'i is coming off of its fourth series win in the last five after taking two games out of three at CSU Bakersfield. Prior to that, UH won two games out of three against UC Santa Barbara, Cal State Fullerton and UC Irvine - all three teams are currently in the top half of the Big West standings. Last weekend, the Rainbow Warriors bounced back after being shut out in the series opener against the Roadrunners to win 5-3 on Saturday before busting out offensively in a 14-5 rout to clinch the series on Sunday.

» Series wins over UC Santa Barbara and Cal State Fullerton, the teams currently tied for first and fourth in the Big West standings.
» UH has played five of the top seven teams in the conference, going a combined 7-8 against them.
» Two of UH's final three conference series are against teams below them in the standings.
» Hawai'i currently sits in sixth place in the Big West standings, just one game behind fifth place.  The top five teams at the end of the regular season qualify for the Big West postseason.

STARTING TO SWING IT
Hawai'i has started to heat up offensively in recent games after struggling to find a rhythm throughout the season. UH is hitting .289 over the last 11 games with double-digit hits in seven of those games and six or more runs scored six times in that stretch. Prior to this recent eight-game stretch, the Rainbow Warriors were hitting .227 as a team and averaging just 4.5 runs and 7.3 hits per game.

» Batting .302 with runners in scoring position in conference games, 31 points higher than the team's average with RISP in all games of .271.
» Tate Shimao is hitting .415 over the last 14 games with seven doubles.
» Shimao also leads the team in hitting in conference games with a .333 batting average and nine doubles with 15 RBIs.
» Ben Zeigler-Namoa has hit safely in 12 of the last 14 games, batting .356 over that stretch.

LOCK DOWN BULLPEN
When UH has given itself a lead, it has been able to lean on a solid bullpen over the first half of the season. The Rainbow Warriors are 16-0 when leading after six innings this year thanks to a number of key arms out of the bullpen. Tsubasa Tomii, Grant Garman and John Alkire II, among others, have all proven to be strong options in the late innings to either keep UH in games or hold on to leads.

» Tomii owns a 0.95 ERA with 28 strikeouts over 28.1 innings pitched with just 14 hits allowed. He has allowed just four hits in his last six appearances and 12.0 innings pitched.
» Alkire II has recorded a team-high four saves and started for the first time in Sunday's win at Bakersfield.
» Garman has 28 strikeouts to 12 walks over 20.1 innings and 16 appearances.
» Brody Martin-Grudzielanek has been called on to close games recently, earning a multi-inning save in each of his last two appearances. Went 2.0 innings and struck out three vs. UC Irvine on Apr. 11 and fanned four over 2.1 innings at Bakersfield on Apr. 18.
