Divers Set to Compete in NCAA Zone Championships

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — Six members of the University of Hawai'i men's and women's diving teams are set to compete in the NCAA Zone E Diving Championships hosted by Northern Arizona University from Monday, March 9 through Wednesday, March 11 at the Wall Aquatic Center in Flagstaff, Ariz.

The Rainbow Wahine will be represented by Macie Wheeler, Lovisa Gustavsson, Keira Chandler, and Avery Coates. Competing on men's side will be Juan Esteban Ramirez Tamayo and Oliver Wignall. The top five female divers and top four male divers in each event — 1-meter, 3-meter, platform — will qualify to compete in the NCAA Championships.

TAKING THE BOARDS

POSTSEASON HIGHLIGHTS
  • Macie Wheeler was named Big West Women's Diver of the Year for a second straight season and earned individual conference crowns in the 1-meter and 3-meter dives.
  • Keira Chanlder earned Big West Women's Freshman Diver of the Year and posted runner-up finishes in the 3-meter and platform at the Big West Championships.
  • Oliver Wignall garnered Big West Men's Freshman Diver of the Year honors, and earned bronze medals on all three boards (1-meter, 3-meter, platform) at the conference championships.
  • Brandon Blaisdell was named Big West Men's and Women's Diving Coach of the Year after guiding the 'Bows to five individual conference titles.
  • UH earned 14 podium finishes at the Big West Championships with five golds, four silvers, and five bronzes.
  • UH set four Big West records, including Juan Esteban Ramirez Tamayo in the 1-meter (360.70) and 3-meter (393.45), Macie Wheeler in the 1-meter (311.85), and  Lovisa Gustavsson in the platform (269.70).
