HONOLULU — University of Hawai'i sophomores
Rebecca Moors and
Ritorya Tamilo were named to the College Sports Communicators Women's Basketball Academic All-District team on Tuesday in recognition for their work on the court and in the classroom.
In their second year in the UH program, Moors and Tamilo helped UH craft a 22-11 season and represented the Rainbow Wahine on NCAA Division I Academic All-District list.
The academic qualification for the Academic All-District teams is a minimum 3.50 cumulative grade-point average. Nominated student-athletes must have participated in at least 90% of the season's games or started in 66% of the games.
Academic All-District® honorees are considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced on April 15.
Rebecca Moors, Sophomore
• Majoring in Management with a minor in Psychology
• Played in 31 games and started 12 games.
• Hit seven 3-pointers and provided valuable production off the bench during UH's 10-game winning streak leading into the Big West Championship final.
Ritorya Tamilo, Sophomore
• Majoring in Psychology
• Played in 31 games with four starts.
• Named the Big West's Best Sixth Player.
• Finished second on the team with 48 blocked shots, tied for the eighth highest single-season total in program history.
