LAS VEGAS, Nev.--The University of Hawai'i men's tennis team (8-5, 1-0 Big West) opened their roadtrip falling to No. 61 UNLV, 4-2 at the Fertitta Tennis Complex in Las Vegas, Nev.. The loss snapped UH's four-match win streak.

The Rebels captured the doubles point with Illia Maksymchuk and Marko Maksimovic defeating Hawai'i's Azuma Visaya and Toa Maeda. 6-2. Then 58th-ranked Ilia Snitari and Arda Karakas edged out UH's Timothy Li and Kosuke Nakanishi in a tie-breaker.  7-6 (7-2) to claim a 1-0 lead in the match.

In singles, UNLV won the first two matches to take a 3-0 lead. But Hawai'i rallied to win the next two matches to trail, 3-2.  UH's No. 6 Hikaru Takahashi defeated UNLV's Karakas, 6-3, 6-3.. Hawai'i's No. 5, Kent Mueller then notched a win over Taiyo Hirano, 6-3 7-6 (7-5). But UNLV's Vitally Horovoy held off UH's Adriano Dzhenev by a break in both sets, 6-4, 7-5 to seal the win, 4-2.

The Rainbow Warriors will remain on the road as they head to Los Angeles to take on %8th-ranked LMU on Thursday, March 19th at the LMU Tennis Complex.
