LOS ANGELES, Calif.--The University of Hawai'i men's tennis team (8-6, 1-0 Big West) fell at No. 58 Loyola Marymount, 4-2 On Thursday afternoon at the LMU Tennis Center. It marked Hawai'i's final non-conference match of the season as the Rainbow Warriors now focus squarely on their final five Big West matches leading up the conference tournament in late April.

In doubles, Hawai'i led off with a strong opening win on the No. 3  court as Adriano Dzhenev and Kent Mueller nearly shut out LMUs Cyrus Ahmad and Darius Tamaddon, 6-1. The Lions evened things with a 6-4 win on the No. 2 court with Cesar Cruz and Emil Kindhult holding off Toa Maeda and Azuma Visaya. The doubles point hinged on the No. 1 match between UH's Timothy Li and Kosuke Nakamishi and LMU's Alex Padro and Max Wuelfing. But the LMU pair edged out the 'Bows in a tie-breaker, 7-6 (4).

Hawaii came out firing in singles, taking a 2-1 lead over the Lions as No. 3 Nakanishi swept Kindhult, 6-4, 6-4 and UH's No. 1 Visaya taking down Wuelfing, 6-4, 6-3. 

The Lions then took control of the match. reeling off three-straight wins at No.'s 5, 4, and 2. But the 'Bows did not go down without a fight. UH's Mueller was edged out in a first set tiebreaker before falling in straight sets to LMU's Kuba Hrynkiewicz, 7-6 (7-3), 6-3. Hawai'i's No. 4, Dzhenev won his first set against LMU's Padro before falling in three, 3-6, 6-2, 6-1). The Lions clinched the match with Cruz holding off UH's Li in. hard fought match, 7-6 (8-6), 6-4.

The Rainbow Warriors return home for its final three-match homestand beginning with No. 32 UC Santa Barbara (10-5, 0-0 BW) on Thursday, March 26, 2026 at the UH Tennis Complex. First serve is slated for 4:00 p.m. HT.
