CATHEDRAL CITY, Calif.--The University of Hawai'i softball team (5-4) continues its two week roadtrip at the 2026 Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic in Cathedral City, Calif.. Hawai'i will compete in six games (three doubleheaders) over three days (Thursday, Feb19th - Saturday, Feb. 20th). UH opens with a doubleheader against BYU (1-8) and 20th-ranked Duke (7-3). On Friday, UH will battle 10th-ranked Nebraska (6-4) and Oregon State (4-6). The 'Bows will conclude the tourney with a doubleheader against Saint Mary's (CA) (5-3) followed by an exhibition game vs Team Japan. NEWS & NOTESLAST WEEK: After opening the season with a solid 4-1 record, the Rainbow Wahine went 1-3 last week at the CBU Classic hosted by Cal Baptist in Riverside, Calif. Leading the UH starters at the plate was senior infielder
Carys Murakami who recorded a .385 batting average (5-for-13) with a team-high four runs scored. Overall, Murakami is second on the team with a .310 average in nine starts. She is tied for the team lead with five runs scored and leads UH with nine hits. Sophomore rightfielder
Rhea Furtado started three games and hit .333 (3-for-9) with two runs scored and a team-high three stolen bases. For the tourney UH split their two games against Utah state, before falling to Loyola Marymount and host Cal Baptist who's starting pitcher, Annika Hollingsworth threw a perfect, five-inning, mercy rule win.
LEADING THE OFFENSE: Junior shortstop
Milan Ah Yat continues to lead the 'Bows, at the plate with a team-best .318 batting average (7-for-22) with four runs scored. Ah Yat also has recorded team highs with five RBI, six walks, and a .464 on-base percentage. Sheis also 3-for-3 in stolen bases.
GiBBS OFF TO A HOT START: Senior centerfielder
Maycen Gibbs has been hitting clean-up for most of this season and is overall third on the team with a .292 average (7-for-24) and is tied with a team-high five runs scored (with Murakami) and leads UH with two home runs. Her .625 slugging percentage leads UH as well.
IRIMATA LEADS PITCHING STAFF: Although sophomore transfer pitcher
Taryn Irimata is 2-3 in five appearances, she has a team-low ERA of 1.91. She has allowed 13 runs but just 6 earb=ned runs in 22.0 innings pitched. She's held opponents to a .2236 batting average with seven walks and 15 strikeouts.
