PHOENIX – The University of Hawai'i men's tennis team (4-3, 1-0 Big West) handled Northern Arizona (4-4), 4-0, on Saturday afternoon at the GCU Tennis Facility. With the win, the 'Bows recorded their second-straight sweep for the first time since the 2022-23 season. UH claimed the doubles point to start the match with a 1-0 lead. On the No. 1 court, UH's Timothy Li and Kosuke Nakanishi set the tone with a 6-0 win over NAU's Vincent Vohl and Takumi Katsuda. UH's No. 2 pairing of Azuma Visaya and Toa Maeda won UH the doubles point with a 6-3 win over Noa Tchernieack and Jakub Volesky. With the win Visaya and Maeda improved to 5-2 overall to lead the 'Bows.

The Rainbow Warriors took their momentum into singles with wins on courts 5, 3 and 1. Adriano Dzhenev got things started with a dominant win against NAU's Ivan Perisic, 6-4, 6-0. On Court No. 3, UH's Nakanishi recorded his first UH win by defeating NAU's Volesky in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2.

Hawai'i's No. 1 Visaya clinched the match by taking down the Lumberjacks' Noa Tcherniack in two sets, 6-3, 6-0. Visaya continues to lead the team with a 5-2 overall singles record.

With today's win over NAU, UH notched its fourth win of the season--tying its win total for all of last year's 2024-25 season when they finished 4-17. 

The Rainbow Warriors will remain in Phoenix to play against Grand Canyon on Sunday, Feb. 15th at the GCU Tennis Facility. The match is scheduled for 9:00 A.M. HT.
