Women's Basketball Heads Into Saturday Matchup with CSUN

HONOLULU — The University of Hawai'i women's basketball team takes on CSUN in a Valentine's Day matchup to close out its homestand on Saturday, Feb. 14 at Bankoh Arena at Stan Sheriff Center. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. 
 
The Rainbow Wahine opened the week by grinding out a 61-54 win over CSU Bakersfield on Thursday in their fifth straight home win and seventh victory overall over the last eight games.

Promotions Saturday will mark the start of an early celebration as we recognize the Lunar New Year with Coke as the presenting sponsor. 
  • The Lunar New Year will be celebrated on Feb. 17, but UH will recognize the Year of the Horse with a special presentation of lion dancing throughout the arena. 
  • Throughout the night, Coke will be providing t-shirts after 3-pointers made by the Rainbow Wahine.
  • One lucky fan will walk away with a special prize from Coke by registering their seat with the "Tell Terry V Lucky Seat" contest.

'BOWS NOTES
  • The Rainbow Wahine enter the weekend in sixth place in the Big West standings. Since an 0-5 start to conference play, the 'Bows have gone 7-1 to climb the standings.
  • Freshman guard Bailey Flavell continues to lead the 'Bows with 13.7 points per game and is on track to become the first freshman to lead the team in scoring average since the 2010-11 season.
  • Freshman guard Keiara Curtis has scored in double figures in 11 of the last 13 games and is averaging 11 points per game in Big West play.
  • Senior forward Imani Perez continues to anchor the UH defense and ranks first in the Big West and 33rd nationally with 1.77 blocked shots per game. She ranks second in the conference with 39 total blocks.
  • Sophomore center Ritorya Tamilo has 14 blocks over the last five games to jump to fifth in the Big West at 1.3 per game and 28 total. She is shooting 61.5% from the field over the last three games.
  • As a team, UH leads the Big West and ranks sixth in the nation with 6.1 blocks per game. UH's rate of blocked shots remains ahead of the program record of 5.6 set in the 2004-05 season.
  • Senior forward Saniyah Neverson is averaging 10 points per game in Big West play while shooting 54.6% from the field in Big West contests to rank second in the conference. 
  • UH remains second in the Big West and rose to 17th nationally in field-goal percentage defense in holding opponents to 36.1% shooting.
  • UH head coach Laura Beeman was inducted into the Mt. San Antonio College Athletics Hall of Fame last week. She compiled a record of  390-110 in 15 seasons at Mt. SAC.
