DALLAS – Hawai'i junior pitcher
Isaiah Magdaleno earned a spot on the NCBWA Stopper Of The Year preseason watch list, the award given annually to the top relief pitcher in college baseball.
A first-team All-Big West performer a year ago and preseason all-conference selection, Magdaleno was among the nation's leaders in a number of statistical categories. He ended 2025 fifth in the country in strikeout-to-walk ratio (7.00) and 11th in WHIP (0.95), while also finishing in the top 30 nationally in saves (23rd), walks allowed per nine innings (24th) and ERA (27th).
Magdaleno appeared in 24 games – all out of the bullpen – and went 4-1 with a 2.70 ERA and nine saves. He also struck out 77 batters while walking just 11 over 60.0 innings pitched with a .205 batting average against.
The Los Angeles native was UH's most valuable pitcher down the stretch, pitching in each of the team's final seven wins of the season. He also worked multiple innings in 18 of his 24 appearances.
Heading into 2026, Magdaleno looks poised to make a move to the starting rotation but could also be used out of the bullpen in certain situations.
