Men's Basketball Closes Big West Homestand Versus CSUN

HONOLULU   Winners of 10 of their last 12 games, the University of Hawaii men's basketball team hosts CSUN  to close out a two-game Big West homestand on Saturday, Jan. 24.

At 6-2, the 'Bows are in a tie for first in the league with UC Irvine while CSUN is in a three-way tie for fifth in Big West standings. UH cruised past CSU Bakersfield 98-71 on Thursday for its second-highest point total this season and its eighth win of 20 or more points. CSUN had a bye Thursday and is coming off an 87-80 home loss to Long Beach St last Saturday.

NEWS & NOTES
  • UH is 12-1 at home and have won their last eight contests at Bankoh Arena. The team's lone loss this year came on Nov. 20 vs. Arizona State.
  • CSUN swept last season's series. The Matadors handed UH its largest margin of defeat ever in a Big West home game (83-60) in the first meeting in Honolulu then knocked UH out of a spot in the Big West Championship with an 82-73 win in the regular-season finale in Northridge.
  • CSUN's Josiah Davis leads the Big West and ranks 14th nationally in assists per game (6.5) while Larry Hughes II leads the BW and is among the national leaders in 3FGM (66, 3.3/game).
  • UH improved to 4-0 coming off a loss following its 98-71 win over CSU Bakersfield.
  • UH's 98 points was tied for its second highest output this season and marked the fourth time UH has scored 90 or more.
  • Ten of UH's 14 wins this year have come by double-digits, including four of its six Big West victories.
  • More than half (8) of the team's 14 wins have come by 20 or more points.
  • After being out-rebounded in four straight games, UH grabbed 53 rebounds – it's most since November 2022 (vs. Yale) to out-rebound CSUB by 27.
  • With 17 points against CSUB, senior Dre Bullock surpassed 1,000 points in his Division I collegiate career.
