Hawai'i Sailing to Host Peter Wenner Rainbow Invite This Weekend

HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i will make their first home appearance of the 2025-26 season this weekend when they host the annual Peter Wenner Rainbow Invite, held Jan. 17-18, at Ke'ehi Lagoon. The regatta will also mark the spring season debut for the Rainbow Wahine, who will make their first appearance of the 2026 calendar year.

After capturing the Rainbow Invite last year and placing all four teams in the top seven, the 'Bows look to continue their streak of dominance and pick up their 10th victory in a row at this event. This weekend's early forecast calls for sunny skies and pacey winds in the 10-14 knot range, conditions that should provide a full slate of races throughout the regatta.

UH will defend its home waters this year by fielding two teams on both the coed and women's side against a field of teams from all across the country. Completing the 18-team field are British Columbia and Victoria of Canada.

Ke'ehi Lagoon will be the site of another home regatta in late March, when the Hawai'i coed sailing team hosts the Hawai'i Fleet Race Invite. The Peter Wenner Rainbow Invite will be the lone home regatta for the Wahine.
