Men's Volleyball To Play Two Doubleheaders This Week

HONOLULU – The No. 3 University of Hawai'i men's volleyball team will host a pair of doubleheaders this week against Roberts Wesleyan and Rockhurst, Wednesday, Jan. 14 and Friday, Jan. 16 at Bankoh Arena at Stan Sheriff Center. Matches begin at 11:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. each day. The matches mark the first-ever for UH against either team.

Wednesday, January 14 (11:00 a.m.) – Education Day
The Rainbow Warriors are set to welcome a lively crowd of students to Bankoh Arena for an "Education Day" match with a special 11 a.m. start time. Proudly sponsored by Hawaiian Financial Federal Credit Union, the event will host students from elementary schools across O'ahu, offering a fun, engaging atmosphere that blends school spirit and community pride.
 
Wednesday, January 14 (7:00 p.m.) – Da Kine Series: Sorean American Night
Brought to you by Hawaiian Financial FCUDa Kine series highlights the unique melting pot of cultures that make Hawai'i special. Korean American Night celebrates the rich histories, cultures, and contributions of the Korean community in Hawai'i. In celebration of National Korean American Day (January 13), enjoy portions of the match announced in Korean, thanks to the UH Center for Korean Studies and the Korean Language Flagship Center.

Coke is sponsoring "Club Team Takeover Day," as Rainbow Warrior Volleyball celebrates youth volleyball at a special start time of 11 a.m. Club Team Takeover Day will turn the spotlight on club volleyball as dozens of mainland and local club teams are expected to bring the energy in a spirited atmosphere.
 
Friday, January 16 (7:00 p.m.) – Da Kine Series: Martin Luther King Tribute
Coke is bringing another addition of the Da Kine Series: Celebrating the rich cultural tapestry that makes Hawai'i truly special. In recognition of Martin Luther King Day (January 19), we'll pay tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his lasting legacy on Hawai'i's community. Following the match, it's your chance to get up and personal with the Rainbow Warrior volleyball team in an autograph session at gate B.

SERIES INFORMATION
First Meeting between both teams

FIRST SERVE
  • Roberts Wesleyan is a third-year Division II program located in Rochester, N.Y., while Rockhurst is a second-year Division II school from Kansas City, Mo. Roberts Wesleyan competes in the East Coast Conference while Rockhurst is a member of the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
  • UH has never played a team from the ECC however Hawai'i is 2-0 all-time against the GLVC, having swept a two-match series with Missouri S&T in 2024.
  • Roberts Wesleyan (2-0) opened its season last week with a two-match series sweep of D'Youville, winning the opener in four sets in Buffalo, N.Y., and the rematch in straight-sets at home.
  • Rockhurst (1-2) split a pair of matches to Mountain Pacific Sports Federation teams last week, falling to Vanguard in four sets and defeating Concordia in five, and lost at UC San Diego in straight sets on Sunday.
  • With the sport of men's volleyball becoming one of the fastest growing team sports in the NCAA, UH has helped its growth by scheduling several new programs. UH previously played first-year programs Edward Waters, Fairleigh Dickinson, and Long Island in 2022 and Catawba in 2025. Hawai'i also scheduled second-year programs Lincoln Memorial (2018), Queens (2019), and Missouri S&T (2024).
  • UH played a same-day doubleheader last season on its North Carolina road trip, defeating Catawba and Queens, Feb. 22, both in four sets.
  • UH also played a doubleheader in 2022 at the First Point Challenge in Austin, Texas, where they played both Fairleigh Dickinson and Queens on the opening day of the tournament. Prior to that, UH played Grand Canyon and Lincoln Memorial on the same day at the 2018 Grow the Game Challenge in Nashville, Tenn.
  • UH (3-1) is coming off a two-match series split of Loyola Chicago, winning the opener in straight sets and dropping the rematch in four.
