Men’s Golf Receives Highest Team Academic Honor

NORMAN, Okla. – For the fourth time in program history and second consecutive year, the University of Hawai'i men's golf program was recognized by the Golf Coaches Association of American as the recipient of the Platform Golf Team Academic Award.
 
UH was among 75 schools to earn the highest honor, the Presidents Special Recognition for earning a combined team grade point average of 3.50 or above. Hawai'i was the only Big West school to receive that distinction.
 
Previously, three Rainbow Warrior teams (2015, '18, and '24) were recognized with Team Academic awards.
 
Just last week, six UH golfers were named All-America Scholars by the GCAA, the most in a single-season in program history and for the most across all of Division I during the 2024-25 season. UH's honorees were Anson CabelloJosh HayashidaTyler OgawaGarrett TakeuchiDane Watanabe, and James Whitworth all of whom maintained a 3.20+ grade point average and had a scoring average of 76.0.
 
A GCAA-record 292 schools across six divisions earned a Platform Golf Team Academic Award. 129 schools received Presidents Special Recognition for having an average team GPA of 3.5 or above. Harvard earned the Academic National Champion award for Division I with a combined GPA of 3.955.
