KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Hawai'i goalkeeper
Kennedy Justin was one of just 13 players nationally named to the United Soccer Coaches goalkeepers to watch list announced Friday.
The 2024 Big West Goalkeeper of the Year is the only player in the conference to earn a spot on the list and one of just two keepers from schools in the west. Justin was also named first-team All-West Region by the United Soccer Coaches while earning first-team All-Big West and All-Freshman honors.
Justin became the first ever freshman to earn Big West Goalkeeper of the Year honors in the 22 seasons of the award and just the second UH player to take home the honor. She matched a school single-season record for goalkeeper wins going 11-8-1 while setting a program record with five consecutive shutouts from Sept. 26-Oct. 13, going 496 straight minutes without allowing a goal.
The Long Beach, Calif. native posted a goals against average of 0.62 in conference play, giving up just one second-half goal in 10 matches. Justin finished the season with 70 saves and earned Big West Defensive Player of the Week honors in back-to-back weeks amidst her streak of five consecutive clean sheets.
