HONOLULU — University of Hawai'i women's water polo coach
James Robinson announced the signing of two players from Europe who will join the Rainbow Wahine program for the 2026 season.
UH signed Asimina Klapsianou of Greece and Ariadna Temprano Xambó of Spain, both bringing extensive international experience to the Rainbow Wahine roster. Most recently, Temprano Xambó and Klapsianou represented their countries in the World Aquatics Women's U18 Water Polo Championship in China in September and met in the gold medal match. Both scored in the match with Spain earning an 11-9 win.
Klapsianou will be the first player from Greece to compete for the UH water polo program. Temprano Xambó extends the 'Bows' connection to Spain as the eighth player from the country to make her way to Mānoa.
"We are very excited to have Mina and Ari become Rainbow Wahine," Robinson said. "Both have shown the ability to compete at the highest levels of our sport, and I look forward to seeing how they impact our program from Day 1 from a performance standpoint and also culturally. After seeing them play in international competitions and getting to know them over the past year, I have no doubt they will fit into our team culture and help us continue to push deeper into the postseason."
The newcomers will add to the international flavor of a UH roster that featured players representing seven countries in the 2025 season. The 'Bows recently completed a 22-5 season highlighted by a second straight Big West Championship title and a berth in the semifinals of the National Collegiate Women's Water Polo Championship.
