Box Score SAN DIEGO, Calif.—The third-seeded University of Hawai'i women's tennis team knocked off sixth-seeded CSUN, 4-2 in the second round of the 2025 Big West Women's Tennis Championship on Friday at the Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego, Calif.. With the win, the Rainbow Wahine advance to the semifinal round against No. 2-seed Cal Poly, who had a double bye to start the tournament. UH will take on the Mustangs on Saturday, April 26 at 10:00 a.m. HT at the Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego, Calif. With the win, UH improves to 10-7 overall while CSUN fell to 11-10.
 
The Rainbow Wahine won the doubles point to start the match with a 1-0 lead. UH's No. 2 duo of Nikola Homolkova and Ana Vilcek defeated CSUN's Madison Shepperson and Yuliia Zhytelna by a break, 6-4. On the No. 3 court, Hawai'i's Hannah Galindo and Makeilah Nepomuceno held off the Matadors' Elena Goodman and Emma Moratalla Sanz, 6-4.
 
In singles, UH's No. 2 Homolkova led off things by defeating Vic Santibanez Luna in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4 to give UH a 2-0 lead.
 
But CSUN's Moratalla Sanz and Shepperson both notched straight set wins to knot the score at 2-2 with Moratalla Sanz defeating UH's Nepomuceno, 6-3, 6-4 on Court No. 5 while Shepperson edged out UH's Joelle Lanz at No. 6, 6-4, 7-6 (7-2).
 
Hawai'i's No. 4 Emma Forgac held on to defeat CSUN's Goodman in a marathon second set tie-breaker, 6-4, 7-6 (10-8) to give UH a 3-2 lead in the match.
 
UH senior, No. 1 Vilcek then clinched the win coming from behind after dropping her first set to pull away in the third to down CSUN's Zhytelna, 4-6, 6-4, 6-1.
 
Hawai'i will next face Cal Poly in the semifinal round of the Big West Championship on Saturday, April 26 at 10:00 a.m. HT at the Barnes Tennis Center.
