FRESNO, Calif. – University of Hawai'i women's golfers
Varnika S. Achanta and
Maline Kraus finished in the Top 10 of the Fresno State Classic, following Tuesday's final round at the Copper River Country Club.
Achanta tied for seventh – her best finish as a Rainbow Wahine – with a 4-over 220 total after a final round 76 while Kraus tied for ninth – her second Top 10 finish this season – at 6-over 222 after finishing with a 78.
As a team, UH placed sixth at 899. Hawai'i entered the final round atop the leaderboard but was forced to finish with four counting golfers as
Emiko Sverduk withdrew midway through her round. The Rainbow Wahine were seeking their first team title since 2022.
CSUN captured the team title by one stroke over UC Riverside. The Matadors totaled 882 after a 3-under 285 final round to move up two spots on the final day. The Highlanders were runner-up followed by host Fresno State (895), Weber State (896), and Tartleton State (896).
Kellie Yamane had her best career finish as a Rainbow Wahine, tying for 12
th place at 7-over 223 after a final round 76.
Wendy Song tied for 30
th at 236.
Hawai'i will next compete in the Big West Championship, April 13-15 in Las Vegas, Nev.
