FRESNO, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i women's golf team has a one shot lead after two rounds of the Fresno State Classic, Monday at the Copper River Country Club.
The Rainbow Wahine carded rounds of 300 and 290 for a 590 total and leads by one stroke over fellow Big West member UC Riverside (591). CSUN is third at 597 followed by Fresno State (601) and Weber State and Tartleton State (607).
Tuesday's final round is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. PT shotgun start.
UH will be seeking its first team title since sharing the 2022 Big West Championship and first outright title since capturing the 2022 Fresno State Classic. Hawai'i will also be looking for its first win under head coach
Julie Brooks, who took over the program during the 2022-23 campaign.
Leading the 'Bows are
Maline Kraus and
Varnika S. Achanta, who are tied for fourth place at even par 144. Kraus carded consecutive rounds of 72 while Achanta shot 3-over 75 and 3-under 69. UCR's Mitzi Duarte has the individual lead at 4-under 140, one shot clear of Tartleton State's Louise Depadt.
Kellie Yamane is in seventh place at 3-over 147 (75-72). Also competing for UH are
