SACRAMENTO – The Hawai'i women's track & field team got off to a strong start to the outdoor season, posting a host of top 10 marks, highlighted by two school records, at the Hornet Invitational.
The Rainbow Wahine finished the weekend with 13 new additions to the school outdoor top 10 list highlighted by program records in the 1500m (
Lucy Milliner) and pole vault (
Helen Hoadley). Milliner lowered the UH 1500m record by over three seconds, running a 4:23.12 to become the first Hawai'i runner ever to run sub-4:25.
Hoadley shattered her own personal best in the pole vault clearing 4.18m (13-8.50) to break a nine-year old school record (4.12m) and move into second in the Big West.
Milliner also moved into the No. 2 spot in program history in the 800m, running 2:07.05 to become the first UH runner in 20 years to run under 2:10 in the event. Two other Rainbow Wahine posted multiple top 10 marks, with
Maya Holman doing so in the long jump and 100m hurdles, and
Catherine Touchette in the 400m hurdles as well as running the third leg of the 4x400m relay.
