Trio of Rainbow Warriors Named Academic All-District

HONOLULU – Three members of the University of Hawai'i men's basketball team were selected to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team. Graduate transfer Tanner Christensen and sophomores Tom Beattie and Akira Jacobs each earned

In order to be eligible, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA (on a 4.0 scale) and must have either competed in 90 percent of the team's contests or started in at least 66 percent of the games.

This past season, Christensen (finance) was named all-BIg West honorable mention after leading UH in a number of categories including rebounding, field goal percentage and blocked shots. Beattie (pre-business) led the team in minutes played while starting 24 of 31 games. Meanwhile, Jacobs (kinesiology) played in all but one of the team's 31 games, finishing second on the team in three-pointers made while serving as one of the team's top scorers off the bench.
