HONOLULU — The University of Hawai'i men's basketball team plays host to a pair of conference rivals this week, beginning with a matchup against Long Beach State on Thursday, Feb. 13. Tipoff is slated for 7:00 p.m. at the SimpliFi Arena at the Stan Sheriff Center.
It's a vital game for both teams in the Big West race. The Rainbow Warrior are currently in 7th in the league standings, two games ahead of Long Beach State. The top eight teams qualify for the Big West Championship. Following its game vs LBSU, the 'Bows will take on UC Irvine on Saturday. The Anteaters are currently tied for first in the league standings with UC San Diego.

- (Thursday) The Rainbow Warriors will celebrate their annual pink game on Thursday in partnership with game sponsor Hawai'i Pacific Health. As fans enter through Gate A, HPH will be giving away three hundred limited edition trading cards of current UH players, 300 compact brushes, and 300 hand sanitizer sprays. At halftime, UH will honor the recipients of the Kane Fernandez and Charlie Ushijima awards, two of the highest honors bestowed upon supports of UH athletics.

- (Saturday) UH will recognize Black History Month, the historical figures who have impacted black culture in Hawai'i and the groups who have expanded black culture to residents of O'ahu. Throughout the evening, several groups will be honored on the floor. During halftime, members of the 'Oahu Choral Society will perform "Lift Every Voice", a song widely accepted as the Black National Anthem in the U.S. Fans are encouraged to wear black. In partnership with the UH Manoa bookstore and the UH Athletics, H-Zone will be selling a special edition Bowhana Black History shirt, listing 12 historical black figures in Hawai'i'. Bank of Hawai'i is the sponsor of the game, and after every made three-pointer, the Bowhana marketing staff will be throwing out the popular Bank of Hawai'i ti leaf towels out to the crowd

GAME STORY LINES
- UH is coming off of a pair of road losses at Cal Poly and UC Santa Barbara. The 'Bows are 1-5 in their last six games.
- After a 3-2 Big West start, Long Beach State has dropped its last eight league games. Its last four have featured two OT losses and an 81-80 home loss in its last outing versus CSUN on Saturday.
- The teams will meet for the first time since their Dec. 7 contest won by Long Beach State, 76-68. The Beach went 10-of-13 on 3-pointers in the win.
- The Beach is led by former UH assistant Chris Acker (2015-17), Former UH associate head coach John Montgomery (2015-2024) is also part of the LBSU staff.
- UH leads the series 12-6 in Honolulu where they have won four of the last five.
- Tanner Christensen leads the Big West in FG% (.612) in league games and is sixth in rebounding (6.8). He scored 23 points – two off his season high – in UH's loss at UC Santa Barbara.
- Senior guard Devin Askew is averaging 20.1 ppg for Long Beach State in Big West games, which ranks fourth in the league. Askew poured in a then-career high 28 points in the first meeting with UH on December 7.
