HONOLULU--The University of Hawai"'i softball team (4-1) hosts the Spring Fling Tournament this week at the Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium. The four-day tournament runs from Thursday, Feb. 13 - Sunday, Feb. 16, 2025 with Western Illinois, Utah Tech, Sacramento State, and Cal State Bakersfield all coming to Honolulu for the second week of the season.

NEWS & NOTES• Last week, UH opened the season with a 4-1 record to finish second in the Bank of Hawai'i Paradise Classic. The 'Bows won their first four games for the first time since 2016. Hawai'i fell in the championship game to Santa Clara, 3-0.
PITCHING STAFF HOLDING THEIR OWN
• UH's pitching staff opened the season posting a combined 1.40 ERA between starters senior
Addison Kostrencich, sophomore
Macy Brandl and reliever Millie Fidge.
• Kostrencich went 2-1 for the weekend, earning two complete game wins. She recorded a team-lpw 1.19 ERA in 17.2 innings pitched. Against Southern Indiana, Kostrencich struck out a UH career-high seven Screaming Eagles.

Macy Brandle made her UH debut firing a pair of complete game wins against Saint Louis and Southern Indiana. Against USI, she recorded her first CG shutout allowing just two hits with a walk and six strikeouts en route to a 6-0 win.She leads UH with 13 strikeouts and she comes into Week 2 with a 1.79 ERA in 15.2 innings pitched.
TRANSFERS MAKING IMMEDIATE IMPACT
Four of UH's five transfers have made immediate impact. In addition to pitcher Brandl, second baseman
Carys Murakami, shortstop
Milan Ah Yat, and third baseman
Liliana Thomas all started UH's five games last week.
• Juinor Murakami started all five games at second base and hit .364 (4-for-11) with a double and two RBI. She scored a team-high five runs to pace the 'Bows. Murakami, who played her first two seasons at CSUN, is a graduate of Maryknoll School (Honolulu)
• Sophomore
Milan Ah Yat is third on the team with a .333 average (4-for-12). She and
Cierra Yamamoto lead UH with two doubles, and Ah Yat is one three Rainbow Wahine to draw a team-high three walks. Ah Yat returned home after a year at Loyola Marymount. She is the daughter of former Rainbow baseball pitcher Paul Ah Yat (1994-96) and a graduate of University Laboratory School

Liliana Thomas leads UH with five total hits. She is hitting .294 (5-for-17) She scored three runswith a double and a home run and three RBI.
TUILOMA HAS STONG START
• Freshman
Kayara-Leigh Tuiloma made an immediate impact in her first collegiate game going 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBI. For the tourney, she hit .308 and led UH with six RBI.
FIDGE LAUNCHES HOMER/PITCHES IN RELIEF
• Amelia "Millie" Fidge blasted a pinch-hit home run against USI and started the following two games at designated player. She also threw 1.2 shutout innings of relief in which she did not allow a hit but did strikeout one Bronco in the championship game against Santa Clara. Overall, at the plate Fidge is 2-for-5 with three RBI.
