Men's Basketball Returns To Hardwood With Pair of Big West Road Games

HONOLULU   After an 18-day hiatus the University of Hawai'i men's basketball team rings in 2026 with a pair of Big West road games, beginning with a New Years Day match-up versus UC Riverside this Thursday. Tip-off is at 5:00 p.m. PT/3:00 p.m. HT at SRC Arena.

The Rainbow Warriors (10-2, 2-0 Big West), who last played on Dec. 13 in a 66-61 home win over UTEP, enter the game on a season-long six-game win streak. The 'Bows are 2-0 in conference having defeated UC Davis and Cal State Fullerton earlier in the month during "Bold Week." The Highlanders, meanwhile, come in to the game having dropped its last two contests on the road. UC Riverside has started 1-1 in conference and has won three of its four home games thus far this season.

Following its game versus UCR, UH will travel to defending Big West champs UC San Diego on Saturday, Jan. 3.

NEWS & NOTES
  • This will be the 'Bows first road games since its season opener at Oregon on Nov. 4. UH played 11 straight home games since.
  • It will also be UH's first game in more than 18 days. The 'Bows last action came in a 66-61 home win versus UTEP on Dec. 13.
  • UH is off to its best 12-game start since the 2015-16 team that began 16-2. Their six-game win streak is the longest since 2022-23 season.
  • Hawai'i is currently 2-0 in Big West play and is looking for its first 3-0 start since 2022-23.
  • Hawai'i is are also looking to match its longest win streak since the 2022-23 season as the 'Bows seek their seventh straight win.
  • The 'Bows are 8-5 all-time in Riverside and have won in each of their last three visits there.
  • UH is in the top 30 nationally in eight different categories including 11th in scoring defense (63.3), and 10th in 3FG% defense (.273).
  • UH has averaged just 7.0 turnovers in its last two games with a season-low 6 versus Hawai'i Hilo and 8 in its last outing vs. UTEP.
  • UH trailed at halftime (29-25, vs. UTEP) for just the second time this year and the first time since its season-opener at Oregon.
  • Following its game at UC Riverside, UH will take on UC San Diego on Saturday Jan. 3. The Tritons (11-2) are the only team in the Big West who sport a better overall record than UH.
