HONOLULU/SEATTLE, Wash. – The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team finished strong on the final day of the Rainbow Wahine Fall Invitational. The Rainbow Wahine only competed in doubles on Friday due to inclement weather at the UH Tennis Complex. In Seattle, Wash., the UH doubles team of Grete Gull and Sophie Rachor competed in the consolation round of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's (ITA) Sectional Champioships.
In doubles, the UH duo of Allaire Berl and Emma Forgac took down the Hawai'i Pacific's pair of Annika Hakovirta and Evi Roobol, 6-4, while the Rainbow Wahine team of Makeilah Nepomuceno and Hannah Galindo competed in two doubles matches on the final day of competition. In their first match the 'Bows defeated the Hawai'i Hilo duo of Lehua Jordan and Pia Starnecker, 6-1. In their second match Nepomuceno and Galindo edged out the Sharks' Tereza Noah and Willow Dymkovwski in a tie-breaking victory, 7-6 (7-3).
In Seattle, Hawai'i's Gull and Rachor wrapped up their play at the ITA West Sectional Championships hosted by the University of Washington. Gull and Rachor fell in straight sets to UCLA's second-seeded Mayu Crossley and Bianca Fernancez, 6-3, 6-0.
Friday's matches wraps up the Rainbow Wahine's fall competition as they look forward to their spring season starting in January.
