DALLAS — The University of Hawai'i swim and dive teams wrapped up the SMU Invitational on Saturday at the Robson & Lindley Aquatic Center in Dallas, Texas. Junior
Zofia Tyminska won her third event of the meet and sophomore
Finn Brophy set a new UH record in the 100 freestyle to close out the four-day meet. In diving, Lovissa Gustavsson won the platform event while
Juan Esteban Ramirez Tamayo finished second in the platform.
Tyminska recorded a hat trick as she held off the competition to win the women's 200 individual medley in a time of 1:58.39 in Lane 8. Her time was the third fastest in Hawai'i history. Tyminska won the 100 breaststroke on Thursday and the 200 breast on Friday.
In the prelims, two Rainbow Warriors recorded Top 10 times in UH history in the 100 freestyle. Finn Brophy blazed to a 42.73 which ranks him at No. 2 in the Hawai'i record books. Fellow Rainbow Warrior Victory Dagenais also sped his way to finish with a time of 43.43 which puts him in sixth place at UH all-time.
Brophy then came back in the finals and sprinted his way atop the Hawai'i record book. His time of 42.26 is the fastest in UH history in the 100 free, surpassing teammate Karol Ostrowski's former school record of 42.31.
In diving, Gustavsson won her second platform title of the season on Saturday. Her score of 254.25 was 43.45 points ahead of the next closest dive. All five Rainbow Wahine divers advanced to the finals. Macie Wheeler finished third (201.25), Ruby Pickron came in ninth () and Avery Coates was 14th (160.10) and Keira Chandler was right behind in 15th (158.30),
Ramirez Tamayo finished his strong week of diving with a final score of 353.55, just 16.05 points behind the winner Grant Cates of SMU. Hawai'i's Oliver Wignall finished in sixth plate tallying a score of 282.95.
Rainbow Wahine swimmer Holly Nelson continues her strong season, finishing fourth in the 100 free touching the wall at 48.80 with the fifth-fastest time in UH history. She also swam the anchor leg of the third place 400 free relay team along with Mia Blazevska Eminova, Tyminska, and Quincy Key with a combined time of 3:53.55.
The men's 400 free relay team of Karol Ostrowski, Regan Richardson, Dagenais, and Finn Brophy) also finished in third place with a total time of 2:51.44.
Coming in fifth place in their respective events were Brooke Bennet in the 1650 freestyle (16.58.99); Mia Blazevska Eminova in the 200 butterfly (2:01.64), Carlotta Ingenerf in the 200 backstroke (2:00.20) and Victor Dagenais in the 200 butterfly (1:45.85).
The Rainbow Wahine and Rainbow Warriors will have a month off before competing in a dual meet at Utah on Dec. 22 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
