The University of Hawai'i football team will head to the "Ninth Island" for a pivotal Mountain West match-up against UNLV, Saturday, Nov. 21 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nev. Kickoff is 7:30 p.m. PT (5:30 p.m. HT) and the game will be televised nationally on FS1. The longtime rivals will play for the Island Showdown Trophy, which the Rebels currently own possession. The Rainbow Warriors (7-3, 4-2 MW) and Rebels (8-2, 4-2) are among a group of five teams tied for second in the MW standings at 4-2 behind league leader San Diego State (5-1).

GAME STORYLINES

• The teams are playing for the Island Showdown Trophy (nicknamed the Ninth Island Trophy), which was created in 2017. UNLV currently owns possession of the trophy having won the last two in the series, including last season's 29-27 win in Honolulu.
• The teams will meet for the 35th time in a series that began in 1969. UH leads the all-time series, 19-15, however UNLV holds an 11-6 advantage in games played in Las Vegas.
• UNLV has won seven of the last eight meetings in Las Vegas, including the last two in 2021 and '23, both at Allegiant Stadium.
• The teams have played every year since 2009. During that span, the home team has won 13 times of the 16 match-ups.
• The teams have played 18 times as conference members with each team winning nine times (UH won 3-of-5 in the WAC and UNLV leads 7-6 in the Mountain West).
• UH (7-3, 4-2 MW) was idle last week while UNLV (8-2, 4-2) escaped with a 29-26 overtime win over Utah State at Allegiant Stadium.
• The Warriors have won four of their last five and are coming off a dominant 38-6 win over San Diego State, Nov. 8 in Honolulu.
• UH has scored 30+ points in five straight games, the program's longest such streak since a six-game streak spanning the 2010 and 2011 seasons. Over the last five games, the UH offense has averaged 39.0 points, 365.6 passing yards, and 479.6 yards of total offense.
• PK Kansei Matsuzawa is a perfect 22-for-22 in field goal attempts this season and needs three more makes without a miss to tie Washington's Chuck Nelson, whose FBS record of 25 consecutive field goals to start a season has stood since 1982.
• UH's roster includes seven players from Las Vegas, including six Bishop Gorman High School  graduates, QB Micah Alejado, RB Cam Barfield, LB Giovanni Iovino, DL Aiden McComber, LB Jamih Otis, and DB Elijah Palmer, and one from Desert Oasis HS, RB Christian Vaughn.
