COSTA MESA, Calif. — The University of Hawai'i women's water polo team is set to compete in the newly created Legacy Crown Tournament, taking place Saturday, Nov. 15 to Sunday, Nov. 16 at Orange Coast College and Costa Mesa High School in Costa Mesa, Calif.

The event was created by USA Water Polo to celebrate the 25th anniversary of women's water polo at the Olympic Games. The two-day event features the nation's top collegiate programs, including Hawai'i, Stanford, UCLA, USC, California, Long Beach State, UC Irvine, UC San Diego, Fresno State, Loyola Marymount and Arizona State. Domestic clubs and USA Water Polo National Team Academy squads will also compete in the event.

UH opens the tournament against UC San Diego on Saturday, Nov. 15 at 11:45 a.m. PT (9:45 a.m. HT) at Orange Coast College. The Rainbow Wahine will play a second match later that day, with the opponent and time determined by first-round results.

Teams return to action on Sunday, Nov. 16 at Costa Mesa High School, with each team scheduled for two matches. Sunday's opening matchups will be set based on Saturday's results, while the final games of the day will depend on the outcomes Sunday's earlier contests.

The Rainbow Wahine will be led by returning 2025 ACWPC All-Americans Daisy Logtens and Ema Vernoux. Logtens, a two-time All-American Third Team honoree, is coming off another outstanding season where she posted 209 saves, a .482 save percentage, and a conference-best 9.10 goals-average against. She also earned All-Big West First Team recognition and was named the Most Valuable Player of the Big West Championship.

Vernoux made an immediate impact in her first season, and was named to the All-American honorable mention list. She led the team with 78 goals—the fourth highest single-season total in program history—along with 16 hat tricks and 98 points. Vernoux was also named Big West Freshman of the Year and earned a spot on the All-Big West First Team.

In all, the Rainbow Wahine return 14 players from last year's team, which finished the 2025 season ranked fourth in last season's final CWPA and ACWPC polls, and have added seven newcomers to the roster.

Reigning Big West Coach of the Year James Robinson looks to build on a stellar season where he led the UH to a 22-5 record, capturing both Big West regular season and tournament titles, and a second straight semifinal appearance at the National Collegiate Women's Water Polo Championship.
