Azuma Visaya won the Big West Fall Invite in straight sets on Sunday at the Arnhold Tennis Center. With the win, Azuma, the 65th-ranked player in the nation, receives the league's automatic bid into the Intercollegeiate Tennis Association's (ITA) Conference Masters tournament which begins on Thursday, Nov. 5 in San Diego, Calif. The first set of the finals between Visaya and UC Davis' Lucas Bollinger was extremely close. Visaya edged out Bollinger in a first set tie-breker 8-6. But then Visaya hit the afterburners and pulled away from Bollinger in the second set to seal the sweep, 7-6 (6), 6-1.
