RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Behind a pair of individual top 20 finishers, the Hawai'i women's cross country closed out the regular season with a seventh-place finish at the Highlander Invitational Saturday.
In the final tune-up before postseason competition,
Emilie Kirk Langschwager paced the Rainbow Wahine with a 17th-place finish in 20:57.1 while
Zola O'Donnell joined her in the top 20 with a 20th-place finish in 21:03.7.
O'Donnell set a 6k personal best and moved into eighth on the UH top 10 list at that distance in the process. Both O'Donnell and Langschwager have now finished in the top 20 in each of the four meets this season with Langschwager turning in top-10 finishes in three of those events.
Lucy Becker delivered a strong performance, placing 47th with a 6k personal best time of 21:33.2. The sophomore closed the race strong, making up 28 spots over the final 2,000 meters to help vault UH up the team leaderboard.
Freshman
Harriet Greentree turned in a 6k season best with a time of 22:09.0 to come in 84th while
Kira Moe also delivered a PR with a mark of 22:23.8, finishing 106th to round out the Hawai'i scorers.
The Rainbow Wahine will return home to get ready to host the Big West Championships on Oct. 31 at Kapi'olani Park.
