Men's Basketball Heads To California For Big West Road Games

HONOLULU  The University of Hawai'i men's basketball team embarks on just its second road trip of the season when it heads to California for a pair of Big West road games. First up is a clash with UC Riverside on Thursday, Jan. 9. Tipoff is 7:00 p.m.PT/5:00 p.m. HT at the SRC Arena. 

The Rainbow Warriors (9-5, 1-2 Big West) concluded a six-game homestand last Saturday with a 68-55 win over Cal Poly on Saturday. UH held the Mustangs to season lows in points (55), field goal percentage (.338) and three-pointers (7). After a hot 3-0 conference start, the Highlanders suffered their first Big West loss of the year at UC Irvine, 81-57.

GAME STORY LINES
  • UC Riverside is 6-0 at home this season while UH is 0-2 on the road.
  • Ten of the last 11 meetings between the teams have been decided by single-digits, including a 73-70 OT win by UH in the last meeting.   
  • UH has won four of the last five in the series.
  • UH won both regular-season meetings last year, enjoying the first season sweep by either team since 2014. 
  • The Rainbow Warriors rank 25th nationally in rebound margin (+7.8) and have been out-rebounded just twice in 13 games this year.
  • UH has held four of its last five opponents under 40 percent shooting en route to an average of 11.5 points below their scoring averages.
