IRVINE, Calif. – Hawai'i freshman midfielder
Nalani Damacion earned Big West Freshman of the Week honors for the second time this season following her performance at Portland State on Thursday.
Damacion delivered the game-winning goal in UH's 2-1 victory, scoring off of a failed clear attempt in the 85th minute to put the 'Bows in front for good. The freshman fired off a total of four shot attempts in 63 minutes of action in her eighth consecutive start at midfielder.
The Rocklin, Calif. native has scored the game-winner in all three of the Rainbow Wahine's victories and is one of just three freshmen nationally with at least three game-winning goals. Damacion is also tied for the Big West lead in game-winners and is tied for fourth in the conference in total goals.
Damacion is just the second UH player to earn Big West Freshman of the Week honors multiple times in a season, joining
Amber Gilbert who took home the recognition twice in 2022. She also took home conference freshman of the week honors following the opening week of the season when she put away a game-winning goal against Georgia Southern.
