WAIPAHU, Hawai'i – The Hawai'i women's soccer team got back on the winning track Sunday, closing out the OUTRIGGER No Ka Oi tournament with a 4-1 victory over North Dakota State.
Head coach
Michele Nagamine reached the 100-career win milestone in the victory, eclipsing the century mark in wins across her collegiate career at both Hawai'i and Hawai'i Pacific.
UH also snapped a four-match scoreless streak as
Brynn Mitchell recorded her first career brace with goals in the 10th and 63rd minutes. Freshman
Nalani Damacion delivered her second game-winning goal of the year and
Jordyn Eldredge Sagapolutele found the back of the net for the first time in a Hawai'i uniform.
Kennedy Justin picked up her first win in goal, finishing with seven saves.
For the first time this season, the Rainbow Wahine got on the board first when Mitchell scored the first of her two goals in the 10th minute. The senior finished off of an
Alice Davidson cross to put UH up 1-0.
After the Bison equalized in the 21st minute, the 'Bows came right back to take the lead with just over 10 minutes left in the first half. Damacion found the back of the net for the second time this season off of a beautiful through-ball from
Izzy Ayala to make it 2-1.
Hawai'i added on after halftime when Mitchell struck from long range in the 63rd minute to make it 3-1. Eldredge Sagapolutele added another goal just over a minute later, scoring on the rebound off of a
Piper Bertani shot on goal for her first goal in a Rainbow Wahine uniform.
The Rainbow Wahine will hit the road for the first time this year, opening a three-match road trip Thursday at Seattle U at 4 p.m. HT.
