WAIPAHU, Hawai'i – The Hawai'i women's soccer team opened the OUTRIGGER No Ka Oi with a 3-0 loss to Air Force Thursday at Waipi'o Peninsula Soccer Stadium.
Despite out-shooting the Falcons, 19-11, the Rainbow Wahine couldn't climb out of an early hole and dropped their fourth straight match while also being held scoreless for the fourth straight contest.
The Falcons jumped out to an early lead with a pair of goals in the first 20 minutes. Mai Mateaki made it 1-0, Falcons in the seventh minute with a goal off of a cross from Chase Borntreger. Mateaki struck again in the 20th minute, scoring off of a UH turnover to double the lead.
Air Force added to its lead early in the second half, when Caeli Sherman scored off of an assist by Eleanor Musgrove in the 51st minute.
The stretch of four-straight matches without scoring is UH's longest since Aug. 27-Sept. 5, 2021. The 'Bows were held without a goal for the fourth consecutive match despite attempting a season-high 19 shots.
