Soccer Battles But Comes Up Short vs. Baylor

WAIPAHU, Hawai'i – The Hawai'i women's soccer team battled for 90 minutes but fell short against Baylor, 1-0, in the opener of the OUTRIGGER Invitational Wednesday night at Waipi'o Peninsula Soccer Stadium.

The Rainbow Wahine out-shot the Bears 14-8, including seven shots on goal to Baylor's three, but were unable to find the back of the net. UH will now turn around and play Thursday night, marking the first time since 2018 that the 'Bows will play matches on back-to-back days.

After the two teams went scoreless over the first 72 minutes, the Bears broke scoreless tie with a goal at the 72:06 mark. Baylor's Tyler Isgrig played a cross off the right side that was deflected by UH goalie Kennedy Justin and finished by the Bears' Callie Conrad to make it 1-0.

The Rainbow Wahine had a handful of chances to answer down the stretch, getting four corner kick attempts and four shots off but were unable to equalize.

Brynn Mitchell and Mia Foster each fired off three shots attempts while Nalani Damacion and Zoe Park finished with two shots on goal each.

The Rainbow Wahine are back in action Thursday night against Portland at 7 p.m. at Waipi'o.
