Rainbow Wahine Soccer Unveils 2024 Schedule

HONOLULU — The University of Hawai'i women's soccer team will celebrate the program's 30th anniversary with a 20-match 2024 regular-season schedule, matching the longest of head coach Michele Nagamine's 14-year tenure leading the Rainbow Wahine.

The UH women's soccer program made its NCAA debut in 1994 and the 2024 Rainbow Wahine will play a total of 12 home matches, starting with a run of three early-season tournaments at Waipi'o Peninsula Soccer Stadium. The 'Bows then embark on a three-game non-conference road trip before entering the 10-match Big West season. The schedule is UH's deepest since the 2012 team played 20 matches in Nagamine's second season as head coach.

The Rainbow Wahine will open the 2024-25 UH athletics calendar on Aug. 15 by taking on Georgia Southern in the OUTRIGGER Kick Off at WPSS. The tournament continues on Aug. 18 with UH facing defending Mountain West Conference champion Utah State. Pepperdine, an NCAA Tournament at-large selection last season, will also compete in the tournament.

The OUTRIGGER Invitational follows with UH facing Big 12 member Baylor on Aug. 21 and Portland on Aug. 22 in mid-week matchups at WPSS.

The six-game homestand concludes with the OUTRIGGER No Ka 'Oi tournament. UH faces Air Force on Aug. 29 and North Dakota State on Sept. 1. in the tournament, which also includes reigning Western Athletic Conference champion Grand Canyon.

The 'Bows then head to the Pacific Northwest for their first road trip of the season. They'll visit Seattle (Sept. 5), Eastern Washington (Sept. 8) and Portland State (Sept. 12) on the week-long trip.

UH opens the Big West season by taking on UC Davis on Sept. 19 at WPSS. A break between conference games will include a meeting with Hawai'i Pacific University on Sept. 22 before the 'Bows resume the Big West schedule against CSU Bakersfield on Sept. 26.

They'll play five of the next seven games in California with the trips broken up by home games against Cal State Fullerton (Oct. 6) and UC Riverside (Oct. 20). They'll close the regular season on Oct. 31 with a Senior Night game against Long Beach State.

The Rainbow Wahine went 5-8-1 overall and 4-5-1 in Big West play in the 2023 season that included the program's second appearance in the Big West Championship and first since 2019. The 'Bows return 15 letterwinners, including All-Big West first-team forward Amber Gilbert, second-team defender Jacey Jicha, and midfielder Izzy Ayala, a member of the Big West All-Freshman team last season.
