HONOLULU — University of Hawai'i sophomore Raha Peiravani is the recipient of the Elite 90 award for the 2024 NCAA Division I Women's Water Polo Championship.

Peiravani, majoring in Finance with a minor in Psychology, currently carries a 4.00 GPA. Peiravani was presented with the award during the championship banquet held Thursday evening at the University Club in Berkeley, Calif.

The Elite 90, an award founded by the NCAA, recognizes the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the national championship level in his or her sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers. The Elite 90 is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the finals site for each of the NCAA's championships.

Eligible student-athletes are sophomores or above academically who have participated in a sport for at least two years with their school. All ties are broken by the number of credits completed.

Peiravani is the sixth University of Hawai'i student-athlete to earn the Elite 90 award and the third from the Rainbow Wahine water polo program. Amarens Genee was the 2013 women's water polo recipient and Taylor Molde was presented the award in 2015. Other UH recipients were Stephanie Brandt (women's volleyball, 2010), Katie Spieler (beach volleyball, 2016) and Kāna'i Akana (men's volleyball, 2022).

Peiravani received the award on the eve of the quarterfinal round of the Women's National Collegiate Water Polo Championship. The No. 2-seeded Rainbow Wahine will face Princeton on Friday at 4 p.m. Pacific Time (1 p.m. Hawai'i Time) at the University of California's Spieker Aquatics Complex.
