HONOLULU — Eight members of the University of Hawai'i swimming and diving teams earned College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors on Tuesday for their achievements in the pool and in the classroom.
Four members each from the UH men's and women's teams earned places on the NCAA Division I Academic All-District Teams. The Rainbow Warriors were represented by
Milan Bukovics,
Juan Gonzalez,
Justin Lisoway and
Mario Surkovic. Representing the Rainbow Wahine were
Anna Friedrich,
Isabelle Lombardi,
Elma Lund and
Mira Selling.
The academic qualification for the Academic All-District teams is a minimum 3.50 cumulative grade-point average. Nominated student-athletes must have participated in a minimum of four competitions or had at least one top-eight finish at a conference championship meet.
Academic All-District® honorees are considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced on April 23 (women) and 24 (men).
MEN
Milan Bukovics, junior
• Majoring in Electrical Engineering
• Placed fourth in the 400-yard individual medley at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships
• Named MPSF Athlete of the Week on Oct. 18
Juan Gonzalez, senior
• Majoring in Public Health
• Won the MPSF 3-meter and platform diving championships
• Placed second in 1 meter diving
Justin Lisoway, fifth year
• Majoring in Computer Science
• Part of MPSF champion 200 and 400 medley relay teams
• MPSF 100 breaststroke champion
Mario Surkovic, sophomore
• Majoring in Finance
• Part of MPSF champion 400 and 800 freestyle relay teams
• MPSF 200 freestyle champion and UH record holder (1:34.49)
WOMEN
Anna Friedrich, graduate student
• Majoring in Psychology and Sociology
• Part of MPSF champion 400 and 800 freestyle relay teams
• MPSF 100 backstroke champion
Isabelle Lombardi, senior
• Majoring in Kinesiology and Rehabilitation Science
• MPSF 1-meter diving champion
• Placed second in 3 meter and fourth in platform

• Majoring in Political Science, Sociology and Interdisciplinary Studies: Peace and Conflict Studies
• MPSF 3-meter and platform diving champion
• Placed second in 1 meter
Mira Selling, graduate student
• Majoring in Finance

• Posted six podium finishes at the MPSF Championships
