HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i women's golf team will head to California's Central Valley for the Fresno State Classic, March 25-26 at the Copper River Country Club. The Rainbow Wahine won the team title the last time they competed in the tournament in 2022.
Two days after the conclusion of the tournament, the Rainbow Wahine and Lady Bulldogs will play a dual match, March 28. The tournament and dual match were late additions to UH's schedule after its spring opener, Beach Invitational, was canceled due to inclement weather.
The Fresno State Classic features a 22-team field and includes six Big West teams – UH, Cal Poly, Cal State Fullerton, UC Davis, UC Irvine, and UC Riverside. The top-ranked team in the field is No. 9 Pepperdine.
Designed by architect David Pfaff and opened in spring of 1995, Copper River Country Club is set up on the undulating terrain of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Participants will play 54 holes over two days, 36 on Monday and 18 on Tuesday, at the 6,276-yard, par-72 track.
In the 2022 Fresno State Classic, UH ran away with the team title with a 1-over 865 total, 16 strokes ahead of runner-up UC Irvine. In that tournament,
Monica Johnson tied for 25
th place with a 7-over 223 total.
In addition to Johnson, also competing in this year's tournament are
Emiko Sverduk,
Jordyn Parr,
