SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The Hawai'i women's track and field team opened the 2024 outdoor season with a strong day highlighted by top 10 performances at the Hornet Invitational Friday.
The Rainbow Wahine put up a solid showing in the 200m dash, with
Amy Warrington and
Isabella Kneeshaw both posting program top 10 times. Warrington moved up to seventh on the UH all-time list with a 24.41 followed by Kneeshaw with a 24.45 that moved her into ninth in school history.
Kristin Cook also set a PR and sub-25 second time in the 200m with a 24.97.
Tara Wyllie continued to impress in the triple jump, taking home the victory in the event with a jump of 12.69m (41-7.75). That performance moved her into fourth all-time at UH.
Helen Hoadley kicked off her outdoor pole vault season by moving into the top three all-time at UH with a mark of 4.05m (13-3.50), putting her in third as just the fourth Rainbow Wahine to clear 4.00m in the event.
Montserrat Montanes i Arbo got her outdoor season off to a positive start in the hammer throw by coming in fourth in the event with a toss of 55.56m (182-3.00). She was the only non-Power 5 athlete to finish in the top five, joining four others from California.
The Rainbow Wahine wrap-up their opening meet of indoor season Saturday with competition beginning at 6 a.m. HT.
