HONOLULU--The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team's match against Cal State Fullerton which was suspended with the score tied at  3-3 on Wednesday, was completed on Thursday afternoon with the Rainbow Wahine edging out the Titans, 4-3. Yesterday, the two teams almost got the match in, but a late start and a couple of delays due to rain did not allow the conclusion as it started raining again at dusk.

With the scored tied at 3-3, the match hinged on the No. 2 match between UH's Nelly Knezkova and Cal State Fullerton's Sein Myoung. Knezkova held off Myoung to take the first set by a break, 7-5. The second set was tied at 3-3 when the rain came down to halt the match on Wednesday. The match resumed on Thursday afternoon with Knezkova coming through int he clutch to clinch the win by closing with a  6-4 win in the second set. UH improved to 4-4 overall and 3-0 in the Big West. Cal State Fullerton fell to 5-3 overall and 1-1 in conference.

On Wedensday, the Titans started the match by winning the doubles point. UH's No. 1 Ana Vilcek and Nikola Homolkova rolled past Cal State Fullerton's Josie Useau and Myoung, 6-1. But Fullerton tied things at 1-1 with Seh Yu and Milena Gevorgyan knocking off Hawai'i's Hanna Galindo and Knezkova, 6-2. The Titans' Natalie Duffy and Kaytlin Taylor then edged out UH's No. 2 Anna Kern and Sheena Masuda ending in a tie-breaker, 7-6 (4) as CSF took an early 1-0 lead.

In singles, Hawai'i's No. 5 Galindo came out of the gates hot, sweeping Taylor, 6-1, 6-0 to tie the match at 1-1. But then Cal State Fullerton won on the No. 6 and No. 4 courts to take a 3-1 lead. 

The Rainbow Wahine would not go down without a fight however. UH's No. 1 Vilcek took care of Userau in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1 and UH's No. 3 Homolkova followed by knotted the score at 3-3 with a 6-4, 6-4 win over CSF's Duffy. 

Hawai'i will play their second of three matches this week on Friday, against No. 3 Michigan at 3:30 p.m. at the UH Tennis Complex.
