Box Score SAN DIEGO—The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team (3-4, 2-0 Big West) concluded its tour through Southern California falling to 16th-ranked San Diego, 7-0 on Friday at the Skip and Cindy Hogan Tennis Center.
 
The Torerros started the match by securing the doubles point with 6-1 wins on both the No. 1 and No. 2 courts. The Rainbow Wahine shook up their doubles lineup and pairings with Nikola Homolkova and Nelly Knezkova playing at No. 1, Anna Kern and Sheena Masuda joining forces at No. 2 and Hannah Galindo and Ana Vilcek at No. 3.
 
The Torerros reeled off three-straight wins in singles to clinch the match with straight set victoies at No. 3, No. 2 and No. 5. Two of the final six singles matches went to a third set super tie-breaker. On the No. 6 court, UH's Hannah Galindo dropped her first set against USD's Kristina Nordikyan, but Galindo knotted the match at a set apiece before falling in the third set super tiebreakers, 6-3, 3-6, 1-0().
 
The final match of the day had UH's 86th-ranked Vilcek and USD's 58th-ranked Claudia De Las Heras locked in a battle. Vilcek took the first set. In the second set, Vilcek was down 4-1 before winning five-straight games to take a 5-4 lead. But the two players would spar back and forth with the first set decided by a tie breaker won by De Las Heras. De Las Heras then held off Vilcek in the deciding super tie-breaker by two points, 7-5, 6-7, 1-0 (8).
 
The Rainbow Wahine will have next week off before returning the courts on Wednesday, Feb 28th in a conference match vs. Cal State Fullerton at 2:30 p.m. HT. The 'Bows will then face Michigan on Friday, March 1 and end the week on Sunday, March 3 against Long Beach State.
