MISSION VIEJO, Calif. — The University of Hawai'i diving teams claimed the top two spots on the podium in both of the events held Monday at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships in Mission Viejo, Calif.

Mackaby Pennington captured the men's 1-meter championship followed by Rainbow Warrior teammate
Juan Gonzalez in the meet held at the Marguerite Aquatics Complex. Senior

Isabelle Lombardi placing second.
Pennington successfully defended his conference title in the 1 meter with a career-best score of 363.95, improving on his winning mark of 358.25 last year. He led the field after the preliminary round with a score of 359.45 and maintained his position in the finals with the seventh highest score in program history. It was the 17
th 1-meter title in UH history and the 'Bows' fourth in the last six years.
Gonzalez was second after both rounds, with a score of 305.15 in the preliminaries and 345.20 in the finals. He moved up a spot in the standings after claiming bronze last year.
Lund placed third in the women's 3 meter last year and rose to the top spot with a finals score of 284.10. She was fifth after the preliminaries at 262.00 then jumped to the top of the standings in the final with her top score of the season. Lombardi was first after the preliminaries and claimed silver with a score of 270.40. UH placed four divers in the top six with
Isabella Plantz coming in fifth at 245.65 and
Ruby Pickron sixth at 240.10. A UH diver won the MPSF women's 3-meter title for the 10
th time since 2013.
UH's team of Lombardi, Plantz and Lund opened the week by placing first win the women's team event on Sunday. The Rainbow Wahine posted a score of 274.95 to finish atop the seven-team competition, ahead of second-place UC Davis' 240.30.
The MPSF Championships continue Tuesday with the women's 1-meter and men's 3-meter events. The meet concludes Wednesday with women's and men's platform.
