Baseball Picked Fourth in Big West Preseason Poll

IRVINE, Calif. – The Hawai'i baseball team was picked fourth in the Big West Preseason Coaches' Poll Monday coming off of last season's 18-12 conference season and fourth-place finish.

The Rainbow Warriors posted their second-straight winning Big West season in 2023 in year two under head coach Rich Hill. It's the first two seasons that UH has gone over .500 in conference play since joining The Big West in 2013.

Owners of the fifth-longest active home winning streak in the country at nine games, Hawai'i enjoyed major success at Les Murakami Stadium in 2023. UH posted its best home record since 1998 at 19-7, going 12-3 at home in Big West play. Hawai'i outscored its opponents 100-58 at home in conference play and won 11 of their final 12 home games.

The Rainbow Warriors welcome back six position players who started over 30 games last season in addition to four of the five pitchers that threw at least 50.0 innings a year ago. The UH roster once again will have a local flavor to it, as 21 players currently on the roster are from Hawai'i.

The 'Bows open the 2024 season with a four-game series against 2022 College World Series champion Ole Miss starting Friday at 6:35 p.m. at Les Murakami Stadium.
