Water Polo Announces 2025 Schedule

HONOLULU — The defending Big West champion University of Hawai'i women's water polo team will take on a 23-game 2025 schedule featuring seven home matches and a road game against defending national champion UCLA in James Robinson's inaugural season as Rainbow Wahine head coach.

Coming off a historic 2024 season, the Rainbow Wahine will prepare for 2025 with an exhibition game against Brown on Jan. 14 at Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex. The 'Bows will make a trip to Central California for the third straight year when they open the season in the Fresno State Polo-Palooza on Jan. 18 and 19.

They'll make their home debut in the Rainbow Wahine Invitational set for Jan. 24 and 25 at the DKAC. UH will face Loyola Marymount on the tournament's opening day then face Biola and Arizona State the following day. LMU finished ninth in the national polls last season followed by Arizona State at No. 10.

The 'Bows will play four matches in the Triton Invitational hosted by UC San Diego in La Jolla, Calif., from Jan 31-Feb. 2. They'll then have a 19-day break between matches before heading back on the road for four more matches in the Barbara Kalbus Invitational set for Feb. 21-23 in Irvine, Calif.

UH opens defense of its Big West regular-season title with a two-match road trip to face UC Santa Barbara on March 7 and CSUN on March 9. The 'Bows return to Mānoa for a four-match homestand starting March 15 with a meeting with Long Beach State. UH defeated the Beach 9-5 in the Big West Championship final last April in Davis, Calif., to clinch the conference title and earn the automatic bid to the National Collegiate Women's Water Polo Championship.

After a non-conference match with Pacific on March 22, the 'Bows resume Big West play on March 29 against UC Davis. They'll close the home schedule by taking on Big West rival UC Irvine on Senior Night on April 5. UH and UCI have placed in the top two of the Big West standings in each of the last three seasons.

The final road trip of the regular season begins at UC San Diego on April 10. The 'Bows then take on reigning national champion UCLA on April 12 at the Spieker Aquatics Center. They close the regular season the following day at Cal State Fullerton.

The Big West Championship is scheduled for April 25-27 at UC Irvine with the champion earning a berth in the NCAA Tournament set for May 9-11 in Indianapolis.

Robinson takes over the program after being named the 2024 Women's Assistant/Associate Coach of the Year by the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches. He helped guide UH to a 23-4 campaign in Maureen Cole's farewell season as head coach. The 'Bows advanced to the NCAA Tournament's final four for the first time since 2013 and finished at No. 3 in the national polls, the highest placement in program history.
