HONOLULU — The University of Hawai'i women's basketball team closes out a seven-game homestand by taking on Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Monday, Dec. 16 at SimpliFi Arena at Stan Sheriff Center. The matchup will be the first between the Rainbow Wahine and Golden Lions of the SWAC and marks UH's final home game of 2024.

- The Rainbow Wahine resume non-conference play following a 73-69 loss in overtime to Long Beach State on Dec. 7 in their Big West opener. UH dropped back-to-back games for the first time this season.
- The 'Bows are 4-2 in the homestand so far and are off to their best start overall since the 2017-18 season when UH also started 5-3.
- Freshman center Ritorya Tamilo leads the team with 11.3 points and 5.4 rebounds per game. She's shooting 57.7% from the field and leads the team with 17 blocked shots. She ranks 18th nationally with 2.43 blocks per game.
- Senior guard Lily Wahinekapu is averaging 11.1 points per game after matching her season high in a 20-point performance against Long Beach State.
- As a team, UH ranks third in the nation with 7.1 blocked shots per game and have 57 total blocks in eight games. The 'Bows blocked 13 shots against Long Beach State, one shy of the program's single-game record.
- The 'Bows lead the Big West and rank 30th nationally in field-goal percentage defense, limiting opponents to 35.5% shooting from the field.

THE MATCHUP
- Hawai'i and Arkansas-Pine Bluff will meet for the first time in Monday's game.
- Erica Leak is in her first season as the Golden Lions' head coach. She played against UH during her collegiate career at Louisiana Tech when both schools were members of the Western Athletic Conference.
- The Golden Lions returned three letterwinners off of last season's 17-16 team and added 10 transfers to the roster.
- Arkansas-Pine Bluff leads the SWAC with 3.9 blocked shots per game.
- Freshman guard Janiyah Tucker leads the Golden Lions with 13.2 points per game. She scored a season-high 26 points against SMU on Nov. 25.
- Briontanay Marshall averages a team-high 4.8 rebounds per game.
SCHEDULE UPDATE
- Hawaii's schedule in next week's San Diego Classic has been updated. The Rainbow Wahine will face Clemson on Dec. 20 and host San Diego State on Dec. 21 at Viejas Arena in San Diego. Both games are scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Pacific Time (1:30 p.m. Hawaii Time).
- Following the tournament, the 'Bows will take a break for Christmas and open 2025 with Big West road games at UC Santa Barbara on Jan. 2 and Cal Poly on Jan. 4.
- The 'Bows return to SimpliFi Arena at Stan Sheriff Center on Jan. 9 vs. UC Riverside.
