HONOLULU — The University of Hawai'i women's basketball team will celebrate Thanksgiving weekend by hosting the three-day American Savings Bank Rainbow Wahine Showdown, which culminates with a matchup with No. 1 UCLA.
The Rainbow Wahine (3-1) are off to the program's best start since 2019 entering the tournament at SimpliFi Arena at Stan Sheriff Center. They'll open the Showdown by taking on former Western Athletic Conference rival Fresno State on Friday, Nov. 29. They take on UT Martin on Saturday before closing the weekend against UCLA, which rose to No. 1 in the Associated Press poll on Monday after snapping defending national champion South Carolina's 43-game winning streak. UH is scheduled to play at 2:30 p.m. all three days.

- UH opened the home schedule with a 2-0 weekend in the Bank of Hawai'i Classic. The Rainbow Wahine held off Louisiana Monroe in their home opener and defeated Eastern Washington in the tournament finale.
- The Rainbow Wahine went 2-0 in the tournament for the first time since 2017 and improved to 3-1 in their best start since 2019.
- The Rainbow Wahine carry an 13-game home winning streak into this weekend's tournament at SimpliFi Arena at Stan Sheriff Center. UH went 13-3 at home overall last season and 10-0 in Big West play.
- UH guard Lily Wahinekapu averaged a team-high 14.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game to earn MVP honors in the Bank of Hawai'i Classic. The senior shot 58% from the field and had nine assists with three turnovers in the tournament.
- Freshman Ritorya Tamilo was named to the All-Tournament team after averaging 10 points and shooting 64% from the field. The 6-foot-5 center also blocked five seven shots in the tournament.
- Daejah Phillips, the two-time Big West Best Sixth Player, has started all four games this season and leads the 'Bows with 12.5 points per game on 47% shooting from the field. Phillips has 1,151 career points and ranks 15th in program history.
- MeiLani McBee moved into a tie for second in program history with 167 career 3-pointers. She hit four against Eastern Washington to match the total of Megan Tinnin (2006-09, '11). Amy Atwell (2016-22) holds the record of 205.
- UH is ranked 24th in the CollegeInsider.com Women's Mid Major Top 25 for the second straight week.
- UH went 1-2 in last year's Rainbow Wahine Showdown.

- The Bulldogs enter the week at 5-1 and have wins over three other Big West opponents in UC Riverside (63-53), UC San Diego (65-53) and CSUN (90-73).

- The Skyhawks lost in the championship game of last year's Ohio Valley Conference Championship but represented the conference in the NCAA Tournament due to Southern Indiana's reclassification status. UTM fell to Holy Cross in the NCAA Tournament First Four.
- Kenley McCarn leads UTM with 15 points per game, followed by Anaya Brown at 14.8 ppg. McCarn leads the team with 12 3-pointers.

- The 'Bows will face a team ranked No. 1 in the Associated Press poll for the first time since playing host to Baylor on Nov. 18, 2012 in Laura Beeman's first season as UH head coach.
- UCLA rose to No. 1 after knocking off defending national champion South Carolina 77-62 on Sunday at Pauley Pavilion, snapping the Gamecock's 43-game winning streak.
- Lauren Betts leads the Bruins with 19.4 points and 12 rebounds per game. The 6-foot-7 junior ranks seventh nationally with a 71% field-goal percentage.
