Swim & Dive Wraps up SMU Invite

DALLAS, Texas — The University of Hawai'i men's and women's swim and dive teams concluded action on Day 4 of the SMU Invitational at the Roberson & Lindley Aquatics Center on Saturday.

In the team competition, the Rainbow Wahine finished in second place out of nine teams with 770.0 total points. The Rainbow Warriors finished in fourth place with 545 total points.

In a tight 100M Freestyle A Final, Karol Ostrowski was just edged out at the wall to finish in second place with a time of 42.58. In the same race, UH's Finn Brophy swam the fifth fastest time in Rainbow Warrior history, coming in with a time of 43.42. In the B Final of the 100 Free, Regan Richardson also notched a top-10 finish with a mark of 43.69, the ninth fastest time in UH history.

In the B Final of the 200 breaststroke, Tom Caps finished with a time of 1:57.33 which is the fifth fastest time in Rainbow Warrior history. Caps improved his previous best time in the event of 1:58.49 which was the eighth fastest time in school history.

Arianna Sakellaris finished the 1650 freestyle with a time of 16:59.08, the ninth fastest time in Rainbow Wahine history.

The Rainbow Wahine 400 freestyle A team of Catherine Belyakov, Holly Nelson, Zofia Tyminska and Alexia Kovaluk finished in third with a time of 3:20.04.The Rainbow Warrior 400 freestyle A team of Ostrowski, Dietrich Meyer, Brophy and Richardson also finished third in the event with a mark of 2:51.56.

In the platform diving competition, Hawai'i's women took three of the top five spots on the podium with UH freshman Lovisa Gustavsson winning Saturday's Platform Final with a total score of 238.75. Her event average score was 6.37 and her average round score was 47.75. UH teammate Ruby Pickron finished in fourth with a mark of 213.20, followed by Macie Wheeler in fifth with a score of 208.05.
  The Rainbow Warrior dive team was led by Juan Estaban Ramirez Tamayo who placed second in the platform dive with a mark of 309.10. Teammate Brandon Shepherd finished in eighth place with a total of 213.55 points.

Next up for the swim & dive teams is a Big West road dual meet at UC Santa Barbara on Dec. 20, 2024. The meet begins at 1:00 p.m. HT at the East Los Angeles College in Monterey Park, Calif..
